How to Check Cargo Pants Pocket Capacity
Cargo pockets should be useful as well as stylish. Capacity depends on depth, opening size and how the pocket is attached.
Measure the pocket
- Opening width across the flap or top.
- Depth from top edge to bottom seam.
- Pocket gusset or expansion, if any.
Test with real items
Place a phone, wallet and keys in the pocket. They should fit without straining the fabric and should not fall out when the wearer sits or bends.
Check the closure
Flaps, snaps, hook-and-loop strips or zips should close firmly and be easy to use with one hand. Check that they do not rub the leg.

Observe loaded movement
Walk, squat and sit with the pockets loaded. Items should not swing heavily or press uncomfortably against the thigh.
Look at the construction
Check that pocket corners are reinforced and that the pocket bag is attached securely. Heavy use can pull weak stitching apart.
Placement matters
Pockets set too low may drag, while those set too high can feel awkward. Compare placement with your approved sample.
